Meet our Board of Directors

The Berkshire County Retirement Board consists of five members. The first member, selected by the other four, is the Chairman of the Board. The second member is a member of the Berkshire County Advisory Council and is elected by a majority of the Council. The third and fourth members are elected by the membership. The fifth member is chosen by the other four members and shall not be an employee, retiree, or official of the retirement system.

 

Michael C. Ovitt - Chairman since October 2006, and member of the Berkshire County Retirement Board since June 1998.

 

Michael is currently the Treasurer/Collector of the Town of Sheffield and has been serving in Sheffield since May 1988. He is a volunteer fireman and part-time police officer in the Town of Sheffield. He is also a member of the Berkshire County Insurance Board and the Berkshire County Retirement Advisory Council. Michael lives in Sheffield with his wife Lisa and 2 children.

 

Deborah Brunelle - Member of the Berkshire County Retirement Board since October 2007.

 

Debbie has been Treasurer of Dalton Fire District for 17 years and Town Treasurer of Hinsdale since October 2009. She is also a member of the Berkshire County Retirement Advisory Council. Debbie resides in Pittsfield and has 4 children and one grandchild.

 

 

Peter Menard - Member of the Berkshire County Retirement Board since 2000.

 

Peter has held the positions of Selectman, County Commissioner and Town Administrator in Berkshire County. He is currently the Chairman of the Berkshire County Insurance Board. He was in the US Navy, and worked for General Electric for 36 years. Peter lives in Windsor with his wife Susan. They have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

 

Patricia D. Carlino - Member of the Berkshire County Retirement Board since 1994.

 

Patricia has been a Selectman with the Town of Lee since 1998 and the Chester Town Administrator since 2014 and also held positions of Lee Town Clerk and Town Treasurer. She has served as member of the Berkshire County Retirement Advisory Council, member of the Mass Town Clerk’s Association, as well as a certified Massachusetts Town Treasurer.  Patricia lives in Lee with her husband David.  They have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren.  

 

Gerald S. Doyle, Jr. - Member of the Berkshire County Retirement Board for since 2003.

 

Gerry was Mayor of the City of Pittsfield from 1997 to 2001. He was a member of the Pittsfield City Council from 1983 to 1995, serving as Council President from 1996 to 1998. He currently works as support staff for Secretary of State William F Galvin’s Western Massachusetts office. Gerry is a lifelong resident of Pittsfield. He and his wife Beth have two children.

The Chairman is elected by the other 4 Board members

 

 

Advisory Council Member (3 years) - Deborah Cotter

Term:  January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2015

The Advisory Council Member is elected by the Treasurers on the Advisory Council

 

 

Elected Member (3 years) - Patricia D. Carlino

Term:  January 1, 2014– December 31, 2016

The elected member is elected by the active and retired membership of the Berkshire County

Retirement System.

 

 

Elected Member (3 years) - Peter F. Menard

Term:  January 1, 2015 – December 31, 2017

The elected member is elected by the active and retired membership of the Berkshire County

Retirement System.

 

 

Appointed Member (5 years) - Gerald S. Doyle Jr

Term:  July 1, 2010 – June 30 2015

The Appointed Member is appointed by the other 4 Board members, and cannot be an active

or retired employee or official in any of the 46 units of the System
